Occupational Safety and Health Management

Awareness of employees’ health shapes our corporate culture. The aim of occupational health and safety is to create safe working conditions while also promoting measures that support long-term physical and mental well-being. The framework for this is a broad-based health management system that is continuously developed. It includes offerings for strengthening individual resources as well as structural protective measures in the workplace.

Holistic approach worldwide

At all companies across the Group, STIHL implements a comprehensive approach that enables employees to access health services, counseling, and preventive measures. The specific design of this is based on regional requirements and operational conditions.

Germany

At the founding company in Germany, the focus during the reporting year was on mental stress and its early detection. To support this, surveys are carried out on an ongoing basis, with the results incorporated into concrete improvement plans and related offerings. There are also training courses on stress and resource management, which teach participants how to handle stressful situations and promote mindfulness. Another example is the company-wide step challenge, which encourages movement and strengthens community.

Philippines

At ZAMA in the Philippines, an internal program for blood tests and subsequent medical consultation is a key pillar. Employees receive on-site access to diagnostic tests, medical assessment, and additional support. This makes it possible to highlight potential health risks at an early stage and strengthens health knowledge.

Mexico

In 2025, a health program was created at STIHL Mexico to strengthen the link between prevention and care. Alongside basic medical care, the program focuses on issues such as exercise, nutrition, and access to healthcare for employees and their families. The goal is to create a structured and long-term health-promoting environment.

Brazil

The health program at STIHL Brazil includes both medical care and ergonomic and physiotherapeutic support. Employees are actively motivated to use in-house medical care and receive individual advice directly in the workplace. In addition, regular exercise sessions take place to help counteract unhealthy stress factors at an early stage.

China

In China, a semiannual environmental, health, and safety (EHS) meeting underpins shared responsibility for safety and health. Representatives from all departments, coordinators, and the Management Board provide advice on developments, training courses, suggestions for improvement, and current issues. The meetings promote exchange between operational units and management levels and help to continuously develop standards.

Digital support in occupational health and safety and environmental protection

Additional modules of the browser-based Quentic software were introduced in the reporting year, meaning that a central system for occupational health and safety management is now available. In the future, this application will consolidate, among other things, risk assessments, operating instructions, assignments, and the reporting and documentation of incidents. This makes work processes safer and more efficient. It also systematically gathers together legal requirements for occupational health and safety and environmental protection, automatically adjusting them in the event of changes. This significantly increases legal certainty and at the same time reduces administrative workload.

By centrally recording and evaluating relevant information, the system supports a structured and traceable implementation of occupational health and safety requirements. At the same time, Quentic enables a uniform approach across departments and contributes to ensuring legal requirements are met as well as to further development of work and environmental protection processes. In this way, all employees work together to ensure safety Group-wide.
